075 | FABIO COSTA

Project Runway fashion designer has never been this fine. Smile and meet Fabio Costa, Brazilian guy who stands on the runner up position at Project Runway season 10. And take a look in how he dress himself; which attracts my eyes more than the other contestants. He covered himself a lot in grey during the show; along with his notable accessories. Braided fabrics, drop crotch shorts, oversized shirt and a turban that makes him even looked like a Southern Dravidian. His signature fashion line Not Equal is actually really good. Modern fashion forward, yet still very quirky; and very Fabio Costa. Love.

074 | PARIS FASHION WEEK F/W 2014

So now, Paris Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2014. I kinda notice a significant change in these 2 designers I recently adore. Yohji Yamamoto has never been this maximalist by doing a lot of prints & patterns. Meanwhile for me, Damir Doma is kinda like back to his own root by doing more monochromatic and plain silhouette. I don't know but Doma did a bit better in clean aesthetics. No surprise from Rick Owens' show; I mean a literal surprise like what he did by sending real peoples & hanging musicians on the runway. He added colours at his collections; a (dark) maroon. And I just love that thing, a handkerchief look-a-like that tied up to the model's neck. Then a colour combination I like-- black, white and one additional colour; which I can see it in Alexander Wang that always brings a minimalist statement, very Alexander Wang. And also, how Riccardo Tisci mixed up a total different stuff into a collection; Bauhaus lines & his childhood memories in how he loved basketball. A strong lines that decorate a simple white shirt is quite refreshing.

073 | MILAN & LONDON FALL/WINTER 2014

Milan and London first. Paris is gonna be the last; since for me, Paris offered an interesting visual twists.
  M I L A N

You are able to stick at your sartorial style in low temperature weather. Classic masculine, slick hair, suitcases, moccasins. Several stuffs looked quite neat and professionals. Grammy and Oscar kind of look. Not that much happened from its form. Oh well, Vivienne Westwood stick with her London-esque mood. Likey.

Personal selections:

• Etro
• Ermanno Scervino
• John Richmond

  L O N D O N

This Summer, London offered multiple or even outrageously maximalist prints. So next Fall is about to be a maximal feminism. J.W. Anderson continues like, well .. He is the designer. I can't say I dislike but that is something that I would not wear; those man skirt in skinny silhouette is more into piece of art. What else ? Burberry ? Check my previous posts. Astrid Andersen ? I never imagine an ethnic men got that kind of long straight hair, though.

Personal selections:

• Astrid Andersen
• Burberry Prorsum
• J.W. Anderson

072 | TIME TRAVEL TO GUNUNG PADANG

First trip at 2014 ! Yes, I just done a short trip with my friend Raslene to Cianjur, West Java. And our destination target is the Megalithic Site of Gunung Padang, West Java. If you live in Jakarta, you are able to do a one day trip to this place. So as a friendly intro, I'll let you know how to get there !
  EARLY DISCLAIMER

1/ If I count on how many hours I took to arrive here, it's all about 6 hours from Jakarta to the main area of Gunung Padang. Just be patience.

2/ Some peoples might think that why you have to go that far "only" to see those tons of stones. Well, it's all about history. If you don't like historical places then you are feel free to stay at home :p

  HOW TO GET THERE

1/ Go to Bogor (Yes, Bogor is the main gate to Cianjur) by Commuter Line train. It costs you around IDR 10K  to 15K, though.

2/ Once you arrived at Bogor train station, take a short angkot to Baranangsiang Bus Terminal near Kebun Raya Bogor (Bogor Botanical Garden) and find an Elf car that would send you to Cianjur.

3/ Once you arrived at the main region of Cianjur, take an angkot to Warung Kondang.

4/ Right after that, there are 2 choices you can pick to make your way to Gunung Padang; by a motorcycle [ojek] or you may rent an angkot. It costs about IDR 50K for a one way trip by an ojek, or IDR 200K for return trip by an angkot. We decided to rent an angkot because when we arrived, the weather was a little bit overcast.

5/ It took about 1.5 hours from Warungkondang to the gate of Gunung Padang by car. And be aware that the condition of the road more into an off road track. Bear with that, pretty please.

6/ Once you arrived at Gunung Padang area, you still have to do a little hike into the main gate of the complex. It's about 300 to 400 metres. There's an ojek that is able to take you the main gate but we decided to walk our ass off.

7/ Voila ! Welcome to Gunung Padang.

From what I read, Gunung Padang is the largest megalithic site in Southeast Asia. This place got a lot of exposure back at 2011 and I see it as a mouthwatering place to go since I really really love historical places. I went to a lot of museums and a lot of old buildings. But here at Gunung Padang, I feels like I am time traveling way back to the Megalithic Era. I learned about the prehistoric era during my younger time in school. And being here is kinda like my personal satisfaction because I am able to see the real definition of Punden Berundak-- or in English we can say it as a Step Pyramid that can also be found at Teotihuacan in Mexico, and another notable place like Stone Henge in England, Macchu Picchu in Peru and the Pyramid in Egypt. I'm like hell yeah we also got one in Indonesia.

From the main gate of Gunung Padang, you are able to choose between to stairs that would drives to the main area. The one in the left is the original footsteps that is made from the original rocks. It's about 378 footsteps and it tilted down about 60 degrees. The one in the right is the man made stairs. And we obviously picked the 378 footsteps. Once we climb the 378 foot steps, we arrived at the main area of Gunung Padang.
And how magnificent the view from 885 metres about the sea level. And I just have no idea how the prehistoric humans from Megalithic era could make this awesome things-- that drives us here at the future, lists of controversies. Archeologist made several interesting hypothesis about this place. Whether it's a pyramid inside or a similar potency of one we have in Central Java in Borobudur.
Oh, and a little thing here am gonna tell. Me and Raslene were appointed to meet at Bogor Train Station. And when we met, we were shock together to see each other in how we dressed in exact same outfit from head to toe. What a silly coincidence, ugh ! But anyway, she's a good travel partner and easy to talk with. And I am going to be happy if I could arrange another trip with her !

068 | RAD HOURANI #8

I posted a random tweet yesterday night, telling that if someone asks me to mention one designer that could bring a true genderless collection, then Rad Hourani is gonna be my answer. This Middle Eastern fashion designer started his career as a fashion stylist and he got no background in fashion. But his designs are true masterpiece; can you imagine that he did his first fashion show in Paris when he was 25 and the result is a big hit.

This is the lookbook of the 8th collection of Rad by Rad Hourani; his unisex ready to wear brand line. And how he picked the materials is pretty diligent. Take a look at the lookbook shoots and how versatile a leather could be. How the designer build a masculine androgynous men by picking ethnic male model into it. I rarely see ethnic male model pose for an androgynous items; except Rob Evans in Givenchy S/S 2011 skirt. But here, the masculine vibe looked pretty strong on all the models.
The items looked really good. Leather loafers with not-so-high heels, leather unisex dress, and unisex backpack. The pants' silhouettes are very well structured & neat. Both genderless & seasonless, two brand essences that Hourani tried to portray into his collections. So that is why he never write any Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter, though; instead, he listed down his collections as Collection #0, and so on.

067 | HELLO 2014 !

Jakarta city scape

It started like last year, my passion to attend the 2012 Car Free Night in Bunderan Hotel Indonesia is totally growing. It is actually a new program from the new elected Jakarta Governor, Joko Widodo in how to make Jakarta a better city (Well yeahs, that's what I caught). So he decided to make the public occasion at one of the notable landmark of Jakarta, Bunderan Hotel Indonesia.

Then I asked 2 of my friends Steph & Raslene to join the occasion, and luckily they said yes. So there you go, I got good peoples to go with at the end of the year. And how we spend our last 2013 night ? We went to the cinema and watched 47 Ronin until 11.30 PM. And how we end it was pretty tremendous. It was 11.30 PM and the cinema located at the 8th floor of the plaza near Bunderan HI (Yes, it's Grand Indonesia). The lift was brutally full because everybody wants to go down, go home or whatever. Then we decided to take the anti mainstream way to go down. We walked along the parking lot from 8th floor to Lower Ground floor.
The chaos isn't stopped yet. I already know it's a public occasion. Everybody in Jakarta can come but I had no idea that it would be that fucking crowded. We even unable to take proper selfies with our tongsis (tongkat narsis; Indonesian, you understand this. Ha !), it was blurry pictures, overlight whatsoever. But luckily the countdown to 2014 went pretty well with a great graphic video mapping at several hotels around Hotel Indonesia.

Tons of peoples sorrounding Bunderan Hotel Indonesia

Welcoming 2014. Year of horse in Chinese zodiac. In Chinese philosophy, a horse portrayed as a very hard working animal. Hopefully, it could reflect to each individual. Hard working in hoping to achieve the best result. And about my personal wishlist in 2014 ? I do have several stuffs to working on it. But in common, I just wish to have another good life, surrounding with good peoples, being able to travel more & having a good health. May you have a good New Year, peoples !
